Tough Decisions: Merge, Close, Founder Leaving? There’s help and money! At ToR House

January 18, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Headshot photo of Carrie Harlow

Join us at the beautiful Tournament of Roses House to learn more about two Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative funding opportunities available to LA County nonprofit leaders – the Sustained Collaboration Fund and the Executive Transition Fund from Carrie Harlow, Director of LA’s Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative. Both programs are intended to provide nonprofit leaders with the funding, consultant support, and peer network they need to navigate transformational moments for their organization from a position of strength and strategy.

Come learn about the spectrum of collaboration models available to you, why you might want to consider this strategic tool right now, and how to pursue an exploratory process. Hear about the new investments the NSI has made to support organizations experiencing the departure of founders or long-tenured leaders, and what we’ve learned alongside outgoing leaders and their board chairs over the past two years.

Carrie Harlow is founder and principal consultant for Harlow Consulting, a boutique consulting firm that supports collaborative philanthropy practices for greater impact. She currently serves as the Director of the Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative, as well as a consultant to the national Sustained Collaboration Network. Carrie previously served as a Program Officer at The Ahmanson Foundation for nearly a decade where she worked with nonprofit partners on over 450 grant proposals in the areas of Health and Human Services, Education, and the Arts. Prior to her work in philanthropy, Carrie held various roles fundraising for Occidental College, the Downtown Women’s Center, and Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. She earned a master’s in Public Administration with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s from Occidental College. Carrie currently serves on the Advisory Board of TeenTixLA and is a partner with Social Justice Partners, Los Angeles.
