Creating the Future

Non-profit thought leader Hildy Gottlieb conveyed a message of hope to non-profit leaders that they can create the future for their communities but it will not be easy and will not happen if they keep
doing things like they always have.

Hildy states there are three questions that will let non-profits change the world. What do we really want? What can we accomplish together? What do we have together? Rather than focusing their own message and vision on fixing, stopping, preventing or overcoming something, non-profits really want larger concepts like healthy communities for all, social justice, vibrant employment options, strong families, etc.

When viewed in this manner, groups that may appear to have nothing in common can in fact become allies when they find mutual goals. Ms. Gottlieb challenged all to have a conversation with someone from an organization completely unrelated to their own group’s mission once per month with a goal to find out what they do have in common and how they can help each other!

Hildy Gottlieb is a social scientist and asker of powerful questions. She is the co-founder of Creating the Future, where she teaches people how to change the systems they find themselves in, all by changing the questions they ask.
